John T. Warrington III ’85 P’16

The 2025-26 academic year began with two new members joining the Board of Visitors and Governors and two who are leaving. John T. Warrington III ’85 P’16 and John Poulton begin their terms with the October meeting of the board.

John T. Warrington III ’85 P’16 was a member of the men’s varsity soccer and lacrosse teams as an undergraduate and has maintained a long and close relationship with the College ever since. He previously served on the President’s Leadership Council (former chair) and was a member of numerous committees. He is currently a member of the lacrosse mentorship program, an active 1782 Society member, and a longtime Fish Fry host.

Warrington has 38 years of experience in the insurance industry, holding positions as a commercial manager with JC Taylor/NSM Insurance Group and an executive with Krombolz-Sheets Insurance, which was acquired by another company in 2020. Before Krombolz-Sheets, he served as director of insurance operations with Harper Reed Corporation/PSI Insurance, a shipping and logistics company with services in North America where he oversaw an Inland Marine Insurance program.

Warrington lives in West Chester, Pennsylvania with his wife, Joy. They are the parents of two sons, including alumnus John T. Warrington IV ’16, a business management major and member of the men’s lacrosse team who is now a senior alternative asset analyst at Brown Advisory in Boston. The Warringtons owned a second home in Chestertown on the Chester River for nearly 20 years, and the family enjoyed living the Eastern Shore lifestyle.

John Poulton is a visiting professor at Washington College and a Partner/Strategic Advisor at Brown Investment Advisory & Trust Company, where he has worked for the past 25 years. He specializes in estate and income tax planning, with a focus on tax-exempt organizations, and has served on the boards of directors of numerous charities in the Baltimore and Annapolis areas.

Poulton earned a bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University and a law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law. He married his high school sweetheart, Anne-Marie Price Poulton, and they have two children.

Two longstanding members of the Board ended their service, having dedicated many years to the College.

Don Tomasso ’P98 served on the Board since 2007 and brought a wealth of experience to the role. He was particularly supportive of the important contribution that team sports make to liberal arts colleges. His legacy is one of thoughtfulness, civility, and unwavering commitment.

Daryl Swanstrom served on the board for a quarter of a century, contributing her time, energy, and expertise to numerous committees and capital campaigns. In addition to her notable gifts to the College, particularly in support of campus security, the regenerative farm on the River & Field Campus, and the Lawrence Swanstrom Memorial Lecture, her legacy is one of unwavering commitment, thoughtful engagement, and dedication to the College’s mission.
