The Hogan Institute at Washington College is being established to advance a much-needed return to founding principles and common sense.

Campus leaders, students, and alumni gathered for the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Warehime School of Business during the 2026 Spring Migration alumni weekend. 

This spring, the Washington College Esports Club raised over $1,000 for the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center through a livestreamed 16-hour gaming marathon featuring five professors and Esports Club founding alumni as part of Children’s Miracle Network’s Extra Life program. 

The Washington College Rose O’Neill Literary House transformed into a classroom space for a workshop with Jericho Brown as students spread throughout the enclosed porch, reader’s room, and library to lay out individual lines on separate strips of paper and combine them in new ways to create their own poems. 

On January 16, 2026, we lost Nate Smith, professor emeritus, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and tremendous friend.

The 2026 George Washington’s Birthday Convocation anchored our celebrations of the country’s first president with a reminder of how the Washington College community continues to live up to his example of civic engagement, leadership, and service.

Shore Strong 2026 was the largest in history, with an all-time high of 1,664 donors who gave $127,106.

The third annual Coast-to-Coast Toast brought the Washington community together as alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends gathered across the country to raise a glass in celebration of the College.

A highlight of the weekend was the 50th Reunion of the Class of 1976, whose members reconnected everywhere from the Friday welcome barbecue to brunch in the Golden Goose Pub and an intimate gathering at Watershed Alley in downtown Chestertown.

What does legacy mean at a college that is nearly 250 years old, founded with the blessing of George Washington?

While college historians and archivists have long and lovingly stewarded our collection of historical papers, photos, art, and artifacts, there are still many things in our collection about which we know very little.
